3 Great Ways to Become Your Own BOSS | A Plans Guide | A Full Guide & Explanation | Consultant Tips
Did you know that there are actually three different ways … all of the good … to becoming your own boss? I’m here today to introduce you to all three paths.
1. Start SMALL: Keep your full-time salaried job (keep doing what you’re doing now), but start trying things out on the side. Pick up a project for a non-profit friend who complains about a business problem. Sign up with an online marketplace and take small gigs through those. For example, I just hired a market researcher through Fiverr for a small project the person can complete in a few hours.
This is a GREAT way for you to test the market and see if you like doing project work.
2. Start EASY: Get your first few projects though a staffing or consulting firm. This can take away a LOT of the headaches of running your own business. I lived in that staffing + consulting world for a long long time. I worked for three global consulting firms … as a recruiter, a manager, a sales dude and as a consultant advising an international consulting firm on how to turn around their recruiting organization. There’s a reason the staffing industry is a billion-dollar business. It’s good for companies, and it’s good for freelancers.
3. Go BIG! Start your own business! Path 3 is what I call “going big.” That’s how I launched ARBEZ in 2006. I love it, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything …. but it’s not for everyone.
